Started with this:
Then I added Nutella.

The nutella was a step too far, methinks.
Although I would go for a nutella, marshmallow fluff, and banana dog.

Yes, it seems a banana dog is a sandwich. Also, it seems you're five years old.

I was out of bread and all that was left was a hot dog bun. It was a bit to sweet overall I think I would omit the Nutella in the future.

I’m sure Nutella is delicious, but I’ll never know. I’m deathly allergic to hazelnuts.

On the weight of Stroopwafels alone you could carry off a lot of experimentation.
I got a good laugh among a crowd of Euro’s before the lockdown last year by saying I liked Dutch food without specifying how many Stroopwafels I eat in an average week.

Best stroopwafel I’ve ever had was mailed to a coworker from someone in our office in the Netherlands, none of us could read a single word on the packaging but we all agreed they were some of the best things we’ve eaten.

If you can do normal peanut butter, I bet some chocolate syrup + PB would get close.

This actually looks really good. It’s like a banana split without the ice cream... or pineapple I guess.

Quite sure I’ve eaten worse after the first two meals following a hard ride left very little in the house palatable to stack on top of them.
Might break out the Stroopwafel iron and wrap this combo up to try frozen. The bun is where you ran into problems.

Nut allergies tend to run together, unfortunately. Fortunately, though, soy nut butter isn’t as horrible as one might think. Either way, for the chocolate element, a handful of semisweet chocolate chips melted on the bread in the toaster works a treat. The jam takes care of the sweetness for you.

When I make too many pancakes, I keep them to make banana tacos with honey and peanut butter. With whole grain pancakes it’s reasonably healthy even! I’m thinking of marketing it as the Elvis Breakfast Taco

Is this one of those things where you're out of an ingredient, so you use a substitute, and then realize you're out of the next ingredient and use a substitute, and so on?

Peanut butter is an ingredient, not a food group like Americans think it is. I also hate it, in spite of being from the US and getting these vile PB&J sandwiches as a child.

As well as things that aren’t remotely healthy to begin with.
Specifically, I was thinking of a sauteed banana that a favorite restaurant of mine makes, with a light rum- caramel sauce and pistachios on top, scoop of vanilla on the side. I’d leave the pistachios out here, and let the sauce sub for the Nutella.

Mine are weird. Hazelnuts and Brazil nuts are pretty much poison. I’m also allergic to cashews and walnuts, but those aren’t as severe. (I pretty much hate walnuts , though.)
I’m not allergic to peanuts, almonds (which I love), pistachios, and I haven’t tried whole pecans but I’ve had Pecan Sandies cookies without a reaction.

That’s an interesting profile, and kind of lucky, relatively speaking. It must be nice not having to read labels and avoid anything made in a facility with peanuts.
fhrblig
> Chariotoflove
07/12/2020 at 19:02 | 0 |
If it says may contain tree nuts, I have to watch out. But if it says it’s just made in a facility with shared equipment I’m good. I will admit I’ve taken the risk a couple times. Most of Lindt chocolate is the ‘may contain’ type, but they make this strawberry and creme chocolate bar that is so good I just make sure I have some Benadryl nearby.
One interesting thing is that my allergy isn’t instantaneous like the peanut one. If I have something with some hazelnut in it, first my mouth and tongue get this weird uncomfortable tingle, almost like when your foot falls asleep, but itchy. Then gradually my throat starts to close up, and each swallow feels like what I can only imagine a heart attack feels like. But that’s as far as it gets. I just have to take Benadryl and that kills it.

I’d stop before the Nutella though, I really am not a fan of it.

It’s mostly sugar and chocolate. If you got a chocolate flavored peanut butter you’ll have 95% of the experience.

Oh thank goodness. My wife the pediatrician told me that those things can blossom into full blown ana phylaxis at any time, but I suppose that’s less likely in adults? In any event, I’m glad you aren’t locked out of a lot of good chocolate.

Man, there’s a lot of chocolate I have to avoid. It sucks. Hazelnut definitely makes chocolate taste better.
Apparently the hazelnut allergy is one that gets exponentially worse the more you get exposed. I remember getting these little chocolates from 7-Eleven called Ice Cubes all the time . They were awesome. One day (back in the 80s) I had one and noticed I was starting to have the same itchy throat reaction I had with walnuts. I looked at the ingredients and sure enough, hazelnut.
I can’t even have Little Debbie’s Star Crunches because they list filberts as an ingredient.
